Soft iron ammunition

Use of steel shot ammunition in suitable weapons:

Requirements for firearms when using steel shot ammunition:
Firearms must be in perfect condition in terms of safety. Firearms may only be used in accordance with their proof testing.

Caution: Do not fire enhanced loads from normally tested weapons!

  • Weapons for cartridges with normal loads (normally tested weapons) and steel shot up to a diameter according to Table 1 do not require separate testing. Firing steel shot with a diameter greater than that specified in Table 1 is not permitted from these weapons. Retrofitting steel shot firing capability to normally tested firearms is only possible if the firearm meets the increased requirements for reinforced firing.

  • Weapons for cartridges with increased charge (1050 bar) must undergo a steel shot test, which must be applied for separately.

  • If ammunition with steel shot according to the diameter in Table 2 is used, the weapon must have a choke of 0.5 in addition to passing the steel shot test.
